BNP Paribas shakes up global equities and commodities derivatives section

BNP Paribas – the largest firm of any kind in France – is shuffling around its derivatives and risk management sections, along with several other departments at the bank, reports the Wall Street Journal.

In accordance with the bank’s regionalization push, more autonomy is being given to the Americas, Asia and European Regions.

BNP Paribas is also forming four new business divisions: Commodity Derivatives, managed by Amine Bel Hadj Soulami; Market Liquidity Provider, under Olivier Osty; Structured Equity with new appointee Nicolas Marque at the head; and Flow & Financing, under new appointee Emmanuel Heurtier.

The bank is also creating a specific entity dedicated to emerging markets, an increasingly important business sector that has been favored by derivatives and equities investors in recent years.

In a challenging economic environment, BNP Paribas is also creating new positions in risk management; Jacques Vigner will be the Global Chief Operating Officer/Strategy & Risk, while Valerie Rabault will take over as head of market prospective and business risk.
